Q. What are the processes involved in creating
a new website?
A. Your website can usually be online within 1 month and is a relatively straighforward
process. The following information details the steps involved in creating your
website with Rom and Ram : Step 1 Domain Name One of the first and most important
considerations is choosing a domain name for your website. We can help you choose
this and check it`s availability. The domain name can be anything you like (subject
to availability) such as www.myname.co.uk. This is the address that visitors
will enter into their web browser in order to arrive at your website. We will
then register your domain name. Rom and Ram web design packages include 1 year
domain registration. Once registered, the domain name will become your own and
this can be used to point to your website on the Internet Step 2 Website Content
You`ll need to a have clear idea of what you would like to achieve with your
website. Is your site about a business or product that you wish to sell?, or
is it a personal website about yourself?. Depending on the type of site you
want, you will need to decide what information you would like to include. We
can work closely with you to suggest ideas and content for your website. Step
3 Website Mood & Design What type of image or mood would you like to convey
to your visitors? What sort of colour scheme and fonts would you like? Will
your site require e-commerce features such as a shopping cart or any other extras?.
There are lots of possibilities. Rom and Ram will work closely with you to determine
your preferences and needs. From the information you supply we will propose
several draft designs for your approval. Your new website will be unique, and
custom designed to meet your requirements. Rom and Ram can also create custom
graphics and content for your site if required. After we have agreed on a final
design, work can then commence on the creation of your website. This will usually
occur within 7 days from our initial consultation. Step 4 Your Files / Content
If you have any of your own content, such as photographs or business logos /
images or text that you want to be included on your web pages, they should be
sent to Rom and Ram at this point. You can send your documents / files to Rom
and Ram in several ways. Either by e-mail attachment, FTP or by post, whatever
method suits you best. If you are sending written content via FTP or E-mail
they should be submitted as a text file (such as "filename.txt") or
as a Word Document (such as "filename.doc"). Image files can be sent
in most popular formats such as .jpg, .gif, .bmp, .jpeg, .pdf and .png. Step
5 Web Hosting In order for your website to be seen by everyone on the Internet,
it needs to be hosted on a Web Server. Rom and Ram can offer you a competitive
and affordable Web Hosting account which can be customized to your individual
needs. Our web design packages include 1 year of hosting. At this point Ram
and Ram will test your website on it`s own servers (or one of your choice) to
check that everything is working as it should. Step 6 Approving the final website
Once your website is completed, usually within 1 month of initial consultation,
Rom and Ram will seek your approval. At this stage, if there are any changes
you wish to make, we can do this for you. Finally, if everything is to your
satisfaction, the website will be uploaded to your Web Hosting account. Your
website will then be "online" and able to be viewed by everyone.

Q. Can you explain what a URL is?
A. URL is an abbreviation of Uniform Resource Locator, which is the global address
of documents and other resources on the World Wide Web. URL`s usually begin
with http:// or if the site is secure it would start with https:// (such as
this site). It would then be followed by www. (world wide web) and then end
with the domin name. So the URL for this site is https://www.romandram.co.uk

Q. Can you tell me how to download software?
A. Firstly, it is a good idea to make a new folder on your computer to store
your downloaded files in. To make a new folder, just click the right button
of your mouse on a blank part of the desktop, an options box will appear. Now
point the mouse cursor on "New" and a further options box will appear.
Now select "Folder" and a new folder will be created. You now need
to enter the name you would like for your new folder. Now you need to choose
the piece of software you wish to download. Simply click on the software name
and assuming you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer 6+, a download box will
appear. Click "save", take note of the filename and specify where
you would like the file to be stored on your computer, or choose the new folder
that you made above. Then click "save" again. You should now see a
download progress box which will display the progress of your download. Once
your download is complete you will have the option to run the downloaded file
or open the folder that the file is saved in. If you select "run"
this will start the installation of the downloaded file. Order
Q. Can you explain what Freeware is?
A. The software titles available on this web site are licensed as Freeware.
That means they are completely free to use and keep. Order
Q. Can you explain what "corrupt file" means?
A. If you receive the error message "corrupt file" it usually means
that the file you downloaded is broken and probably will not work. This can
sometimes mean that there has been an interruption of your internet condition
during the download process. If this does happen try to download the file again,
in most instances this will resolve the problem. Order
Q. How do I remove the software from my computer?
A. To remove a program from your computer, you need to use the Windows Add/Remove
utility. Assuming you are using Windows XP, you need to access this by firstly
clicking on the "Start Menu", then selecting "Control Panel".
Once in the Control Panel double click on "Add or Remove Programs"
(see picture below). You will now see a list of programs that are currently
installed on your computer. Choose the title of the program you wish to remove.
Select it and remove the program. Order
Q. Can you provide technical support for the software listed?
A. Rom and Ram are unable to offer technical support for any of the software

the author that created the software. Most software will come with a "Read
Me" or "Help File" contained within the program, which may provide
details of the author or support offered.
Q. Can you always connect to my PC after i have used your Remote Support Service?

again. You are completely in control of when a connection is made.

and there are no 3rd party services involved.
Q. I have a connection through a router firewall or wifi hotspot, can i still use your Remote Service?
A. Yes! The connection is handled on your machine as a temporary service, so will work fine behind a NAT Router, Firewall, Cable/DSL Broadband Gateway, WiFi or Bluetooth connections.
Q. Can you tell me the difference between a print logo and a web logo?
A. Print logos are required to have a much higher resolution to create, and need to be saved in certain print formats such as TIFF, EPS and PDF. This is so the logo can be opened up and printed without having the original software program the logo was created in. Print logos can have a very large file size, and are best sent to you on a form of removable media, such as CD-ROM. Web logos require a much smaller resolution and can be sent via email because of the small file size.
Q. I am not sure what sort of design i would like, can you help me?
A. Yes, Rom and Ram recommend that you consider the following points : Do you want your logo to stand out against your competitors? What do you want the logo to represent? (do you want the logo to represent quality, fun, elegance etc.) What colors should your logo be in? Does your logo require a certain typeface? Will your design require text / image or both? Rom and Ram can help you every step of the way to ensure that your design is exactly what you require.
Q. I have an existing logo, can you redesign it?
A. Certainly!
Q. I have an idea for my logo, can you incorporate it into the design?
A. Yes. If you have any idea that may help our

in GIF or JPEG format. Special formats can also be created at your request,
but we recommend GIF or JPEG for general use. Logo designs for other uses, other
than websites and print, can be created in GIF, JPEG, PICT, PNG, Windows Bitmap,
and many more formats. Logos designed for print uses are delivered in PDF, EPS
